Wilcom Upgrade & Trade-in Questions

Can I upgrade an older Wilcom version?

Very likely. Upgrade options are available for many older Wilcom versions. Tell us your current version, product level and licence type, and we’ll check the available route and provide a quotation.

Can I move from Editing or Decorating to Designing?

Yes, moving to Designing can give you access to more advanced digitising tools. We’ll check the age, version and licence details of your current software to confirm the best upgrade route for you.

Is a subscription the same as buying an upgrade?

No. A subscription provides access while your plan remains active and includes updates under its terms. An outright purchase gives you a perpetual licence for the purchased version; future major upgrades may cost extra.

Can I trade in another software brand?

Yes, Wilcom offers trade-in options for a range of embroidery software brands. Eligibility depends on the product, its age, ownership verification and the current offer terms. Tell us what you use, and we’ll check the available options for you.

Will my existing embroidery files still work?

If you currently use Wilcom EMB files, then yes, you can continue working with your existing designs. For other file formats, discuss them with us so we can check compatibility. We can demonstrate what does and doesn’t work, including which parts of a design you’ll be able to edit.

Do I need a new computer?

Not necessarily. Compare your PC with the current EmbroideryStudio requirements. If you’re unsure, send the Windows version, processor, memory and graphics details and we’ll help you assess them.

What happens to my old licence or dongle?

The requirements depend on the upgrade or trade-in offer. We’ll confirm any surrender, deactivation or other licence conditions before you proceed. Do not dispose of your dongle or remove working software before those terms are clear.
